Friday Fuel

Friday Fuel August 26, 2011

We’ve had some vicious flash flooding here in da ‘Burgh recently and even felt an earthquake earlier this week (I was at the movies with the sprogs and was convinced the kid behind me was jiggling my seat). Now Hurricane Irene promises to pound the East Coast. We may or may not get any of Irene here; it actually looks as though she will keep further east. But it’s still a reminder that we are at the mercy of Mother Nature and she can be one spiteful bitch. Here is today’s list of nature inspired fuel:

1. You are walking through the woods and a dryad steps out of a tree to sneeze.

2. Your protagonist is caught under a bridge during a heavy rainstorm. A man stops to help. Does she trust him?

3. A family is enjoying a day at the park when the sky quickly turns green and the stars are visible although it’s daytime. What’s happening?

4. Your protagonist, a single mother, leaves her children home alone for fifteen minutes while she runs to the convenience store for milk. A tornado strikes.

5. Your seven-year old self finds a ring of mushrooms growing in the backyard. Is this significant and why?

Have a great weekend!
